RSM launches report on the future of retail

While report is focussed on more traditional retailers, RSM (an NCC member) believes that there may be some synergy between this and leisure vehicle retailers.

What lies ahead for mid-market retailers?

This week sees the publication of RSM’s report exploring the future of retail. What’s in store? brings together the findings of a survey of over 250 senior retail executives and a poll of 1,000 consumers. For mid-market retailers, that means “an invaluable insight into the consumer trends shaping the future of retail and the industry’s priorities for the next two years”.

Key findings

*           Most of the businesses who had physical retail space expected to increase their store footprint in the next two years.

*           The ethical buyer and the demand for more flexible and faster delivery were the consumer trends most retailers expected to be focusing on.

*           Business rates were seen as the biggest barrier to remaining competitive.

*           Brand reputation was the most frequently cited reason for considering social and environmental impact.
