New flexible furloughing to begin on 1 July – current scheme to end to new entrants

Government has announced that a new flexible furloughing scheme is now to be brought forward to start on 1 July. This new scheme will mean employers can bring back furloughed employees for any amount of time and on any shift pattern, while still being able to claim CJRS grant for their normal hours not worked.

When claiming the CJRS grant for furloughed hours, employers will need to report and claim for a minimum period of one week.

The final date by which an employer can furlough an employee for the first time under the current scheme will be 10 June so that these employees will have beenhave furloughed for a full 3-week period prior to 30 June.  Employers will have until 31 July to make any claims in respect of the period to 30 June.

The current scheme closes on 30 June.

More details will be released on 12 June – you can read the current Government information here.
