Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme

Coronavirus Statutory Sick Pay Rebate Scheme

Legislation will allow small and medium-sized businesses to reclaim Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) paid for staff sickness absence due to coronavirus. This refund will cover up to two weeks’ SSP per eligible employee who has been off work because of coronavirus, either because they have the virus or cannot work because they are self-isolating at home.

Who is it for?

Any small or medium sized business that is UK-based and employs fewer than 250 employees as of 28 February 2020.  It covers all types of employment contracts – full-time, part-time and flexible or zero-hours contracts.

How do you apply?

There are a number of records which must be kept. A rebate scheme is being developed, further details – including the end date – will be confirmed – read more.
